Public Consultation: Former Bank of Ireland Building Carnew

Wicklow County Council hereby gives notice of a proposed development for the Former Bank of Ireland Building in Carnew. This project will refurbish the existing building and adapt it for use as a remote working hub.
Consultation Background In accordance with provisions of PART XI of the Planning Acts 2000 (as amended) and Part 8 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), Wicklow County Council intends to refurbish the former Bank of Ireland Building, Main Street, Carnew, Co. Wicklow and adapt it for use as a remote working hub, incorporating retrofitting and accessibility enhancements.
This development will include:
Change of use from existing bank to a community-based Remote Working Hub
Associated refurbishment works to the existing building
New single-storey lean-to extension to the rear
New pitched roof structure with glazed entrance
Enclosure of the existing flat-roofed vault
Erection of a new shopfront and signage including an integrated decorative entrance gate
Project Aims The aim of the development is to provide an active and vibrant working environment on Carnew Main Street and to promote well-being, inclusion, and community cohesion for those using and interacting with the building.
