Public Consultation : Wexford Town Centre First Strategy
Closing Date: 12pm, Friday 14th March 2025
Wexford County Council has initiated a public consultation process for the development of a Town Centre First Strategy as part of the Wexford Town Local Area Plan 2040. In partnership with the newly formed Wexford Town Team, the Council seeks public input on a comprehensive strategy for sustainable development and regeneration of Wexford Town Centre.
The Town Team has identified key areas for consideration including regional connectivity, heritage preservation, environmental sustainability, business development, tourism enhancement, and community wellbeing. Specific focus areas include strategic positioning within the region, protection of cultural assets, climate change adaptation, local business support, tourism infrastructure development, and addressing community needs in healthcare, housing, education, and safety.
Plans and supporting documentation can be viewed at the Planning Department, Wexford County Council, County Hall during office hours (9am-5pm, Monday to Friday) or online at www.wexfordcoco.ie until March 14th. The Council particularly welcomes public views on current challenges facing the Town Centre, potential opportunities for development, and suggested solutions for improvement.
Submissions can be made in writing to the Senior Planner, Planning Department, Wexford County Council, County Hall, by email to planning@wexfordcoco.ie, or through the online consultation portal at www.wexfordcoco.ie/planning/consultations. All submissions should address the key questions outlined in the consultation document regarding issues, opportunities, and additional comments for the Town Centre's future development.
