CPD System Reform for Pharmacy Professionals

Public Consultation Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI)

Closing Date: 5pm, Monday 3rd February 2025

The Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland has launched a consultation on proposed changes to the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) system for pharmacists and pharmaceutical assistants. The amendments will update the PSI (Continuing Professional Development) and PSI (Registration) Rules.

Key proposals include introducing a CPD model for pharmaceutical assistants, removing Practice Review for pharmacists, implementing annual CPD record submissions, linking registration with CPD engagement, and establishing a new policy-based approach to quality assurance. The changes aim to enhance the profession's lifelong learning framework while maintaining high standards of patient care. Stakeholders can provide feedback through an online questionnaire, by email to cpd@psi.ie, or by post to the Professional Standards Team at PSI House. Detailed information, including FAQs and draft statutory rules, is available on the PSI website.

The consultation outcomes will be reviewed by the PSI Council and published in a consultation report, with any resulting legislative changes considered for implementation.
